Taggart was born and raised in Prince George. After graduating from Kelly Road Secondary in 2001, he went to work in the forest industry. In 2003, he attended the College of New Caledonia where he graduated with honors. In 2005, having obtained his diploma in Wood Processing and Engineering, he then returned to work in the forest industry. In 2008, he decided to make real estate his career. 

Taggart’s favorite activities are those which can be done outdoors. These mainly include camping and hiking. He also enjoys travelling. He believes that the world is there to be seen and has made it his goal to visit one country on every continent in the next ten years.
